The Post-Graduation Program in Education at the University of Uberaba was created in 1999 and recommended by Capes in 2004, being a pioneer in the institution. It has maintained the regular offer of admission for new students since its creation. It is aimed at professionals interested in research in the educational area related to the Program's Research Lines and education professionals who carry out activities in teaching, pedagogical coordination and management in different educational spaces and in bodies linked to the educational area. From it, a stricto sensu a post-graduation culture has been constituted in the institution. In addition, it has consolidated the University's presence in the educational field, allowing, by increasing scientific production, fueled by research, a more effective relationship between teaching, research and extension, radiating new ways of thinking and exercising education in today's times.
The Post-Graduation Program in Education at the University of Uberaba focuses on Education, understood as a cultural dimension of contextualized socio-educational processes. It carries out studies and research on school and non-school educational processes in the light of philosophical, historical, political, sociological and anthropological approaches to education. In the same way, training, professionalization of teachers, teaching work and the teaching-learning process at different levels and modalities of education are of investigative interest.
The program focuses on Education, understood as a social process in which political, historical, cultural, economic and communicational aspects are articulated. More specifically, the area is guided by the investigations of school education, action and training of education professionals, which allows the realization of research projects under the most different theoretical and methodological approaches, with different approaches and levels of coverage, in order to enable broad development of research on educational processes and products developed by school or non-school institutions, and by professionals from different areas. Education is treated as an area that seeks its foundations mainly in philosophy, history, sociology, politics and cultural anthropology, in an interdisciplinary perspective.
